The first week of October brings with it a fresh slate of rebates and incentives that are designed to save new car and truck buyers some money, as well as draw shoppers into autumn showrooms.
Our first entry on this week's list, which goes out just as the leaves begin to change color in the northern part of the country, is the 2012 Mitsubishi Galant mid-size sedan, which can be had with a $3,000 cash back offer or zero percent financing. Next up is the 2011 Lincoln Town Car full-size sedan, which comes with the choice of 0.9% financing or a hefty $4,000 cash back rebate, followed by the 2012 Ford Expedition full-size SUV, which has been bundled with either a $2,000 factory cash offer or a zero percent financing. Rounding out October's first batch of rebates and incentives are the 2012 Buick Enclave full-size crossover ($1,500 cash back or 2.9% financing) and the 2011 Mazda Mazda6 mid-size sedan (0.0% financing plus $500 cash back).
New vehicle sales traditionally begin to slow in the fall season, which means that rebates and incentives should start to pile up as car companies do their best to make room for the upcoming model year's inventory. Come back next week for our roundup of even more bargains on brand new cars and trucks.

2012 Mitsubishi Galant

The Mitsubishi Galant comes in both ES and SE trim levels, with the latter offering features such as a sunroof, automatic climate control, a navigation system and heated seats.
The 2012 Mitsubishi Galant is motivated exclusively by a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that has been tuned to provide a balance between power and fuel economy. Capable of producing 160 horsepower and 157 lb-ft of torque, the unit is also good for fuel mileage of 21 miles per gallon in stop and go driving and 30 miles per gallon in the highway. A four-speed automatic transmission is included with each and every edition of the Galant.
There is a financing incentive of 0.0% interest or $3,000 cash back on the 2011 Mitsubishi Galant available until 10/31/2011.
2011 Lincoln Town Car - $4,000 or 0.9% - 01/03/2012
The 2011 Lincoln Town Car is a full-size luxury sedan that represents the last of its breed: a large, rear-wheel drive body-on-frame cruiser that offers a quiet ride and an expansive, comfortable interior. The Lincoln Town Car can be ordered in both standard and extended-wheelbase L editions, with the latter opening up significant legroom for rear passengers.
The 2011 Lincoln Town Car keeps things simple in the engine bay, restricting buyers to a single V-8 engine option. Displacing 4.6-liters, this motor is good for 239 horsepower and 287 lb-ft of torque, managed by a four-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy for the plus-size sedan checks in at 16 miles per gallon around town and 24 miles per gallon on the highway.
There is a financing incentive of 0.9% interest or $4,000 cash back on the 2011 Lincoln Town Car available until 01/03/2012.
2012 Ford Expedition
The 2012 Ford Expedition offers full-size SUV capability in terms of towing (9,200 lbs maximum rating) and hauling (up to 130 cubic feet of total cargo space in the extended-wheelbase EL model). The Ford Expedition is also adept in its role as a people mover thanks to a three-row seating arrangement that can handle as many as eight passengers, if required. Throw in the requisite high end Limited and King Ranch editions, which offer a substantial degree of luxury, and the Expedition is capable of satisfying the needs of a wide range of drivers.
All versions of the 2012 Ford Expedition benefit from the inclusion of a 5.4-liter V-8 engine that grinds out 310 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive can be ordered as an option to give the truck a reasonable level of off-road ability. A six-speed automatic transmission is included free of charge, and fuel economy is rated at 14 miles per gallon in city driving and 20 miles per gallon during highway cruising.
There is a financing incentive of 0.0% interest or $2,000 cash back on the 2012 Ford Expedition available until 01/03/2012.
2012 Buick Enclave
The 2012 Buick Enclave is aimed at drivers who need the capabilities embodied by a full-size crossover but who also want to slip behind the wheel of a vehicle that handles and feels much more like a large sedan than a heavy truck. The Buick Enclave is definitely a smooth performer, and it provides the option of eight passenger seating as well as 116 cubic feet of total cargo space with the rear row folded forward.
The 2012 Buick Enclave features a 3.6-liter V-6 engine under the hood. Capable of putting out 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, this motor is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and is offered in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations. The Enclave can tow a respectable 4,500 lbs when properly equipped, and it offers fuel economy of 17 miles per gallon around town and 24 miles per gallon on the highway.
There is a financing incentive of 2.9% interest or $1,500 cash back on the 2012 Buick Enclave available until 10/31/2011.
2011 Mazda MAZDA6
The 2011 Mazda MAZDA6 mid-size sedan provides family car shoppers with an option that puts handling and fun on the same level as fuel economy, affordability and style. The Mazda MAZDA6 is a spacious commuter that makes the most of its well-engineered suspension and chassis to offer a level of handling prowess not typically seen in its segment.
The 2011 Mazda MAZDA6 also offers a choice between an entry-level four-cylinder engine and a more robust V-6. The base 2.4-liter unit provides 170 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque on its way to returning fuel economy of 22 miles per gallon in city driving and 31 miles per gallon on the highway. The sedan's available 3.7-liter V-6 steps things up with 272 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, and features a fuel mileage rating of 18 miles per gallon in stop and go driving and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. Four-cylinder MAZDA6 models come with the choice of either a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, while the V-6 is paired with a six-speed autobox.
There is a financing incentive of 0.0% interest plus 500 cash back on the 2011 Mazda MAZDA6 available until 10/31/2011.
