The 2012 Ford Explorer provides families with a three-row, seven passenger crossover option that also offers 80 cubic feet of total cargo space. The 2012 Ford Explorer features a 290 horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 as its base motor. Also capable of generating 255 lb-ft of torque, this unit delivers fuel economy of 18-mpg city and 25-mpg highway. A 2.0-liter, turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder engine is available as an option with the Explorer, and it is good for 240 horses and 270 lb-ft of twist while improving fuel mileage by two and three miles per gallon for each respective measure. A six-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting duties for both drivetrains, and V-6 models can be paired with a four-wheel drive system.
