The 2010 Dodge Avenger is a mid-size sedan that is intended as an affordable and comfortable commuter car or family option. The Dodge Avenger seats up to five passengers and offers 13.4 cubic feet of trunk space. Three trim levels are available on the sedan, starting out with the SXT, which offers air conditioning, power windows and door locks, cruise control and a unique chilled storage compartment. Moving up to the Express trim installs heated seats, a louder touchscreen stereo system and a digital music storage system. The R/T model grafts on leather seats and sportier exterior touches such as a rear spoiler. It also makes available premium options that include automatic climate control, LED interior lighting and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Both the entry-level 2010 Dodge Avenger SXT and the mid-level Express are motivated exclusively by a 173 horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that also offers 166 lb-ft of torque. A four-speed automatic sends this output to the front wheels, and fuel mileage comes in at 21 miles per gallon in stop and go driving and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The R/T model shares the four-cylinder engine with its lesser cousins as a base unit, but it also offers the choice of a 3.5-liter V-6 that generates 235 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic replaces the four-speed found on the smaller motor, and fuel mileage comes in at 16 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway.
