Round 11: Popular Opinion
What's a guy to do with two limo-like luxury sedans if not chauffer? In our weeklong trysts with each sedan, we carted around friends, co-workers and various significant others. We also parked the cars in conspicuous locations to observe reactions. The overwhelming sentiment was that the BMW 760Li was a marvelously competent and comfortable luxury sedan loaded with impressive and easy-to-use amenities, while the Jaguar XJL Supercharged was something more special. Audible kudos and frequent neck-craning alike spoke to its external beauty. Passenger of all stripes - this one included - marveled at the interior. Though there are numerous noteworthy interior design elements, it was more about the way it all came together to create not just an atmosphere, but an emotion-laden experience - and not just a first-time impression; it felt like an event every time we slid into the driver's seat, pushed the starter button and waited for the chrome rotary gear selector to rise to our waiting fingertips. As one car-savvy friend put it simply: "I don't know what it was, but I just felt really happy every time I sat in it." We concur.
Scorecard: Happiness - at least of the automotive variety - is spending some time with the Jaguar XJL Supercharged.
