Picking a sport utility vehicle as the sexiest SUV for 2012 presents a challenge. SUVs are meant to carry groceries around, haul kids to their soccer game, or to make the occasional off road excursion. They are not meant to look pretty while doing so. These vehicles are bought for practicality and usefulness not for their mundane looks. But then there is the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 which is very striking. The base model Grand Cherokee is nothing too exciting or out of the ordinary but the SRT8 features some massaged body panels, chrome trim, and a fire-breathing HEMI engine that transform the SUV from daily driver to sexy beast. The front and rear bumpers are unique to the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 and go a long way in adding to the overall sexiness of this SUV. With a cool chrome grill and other chrome accents pieces, you cannot help but notice this is not your Grandpa’s Jeep. Topping it all off are a set of hot five-spoke alloy rims measuring 20 inches. The Grand Cherokee is not all sexy on the outside but the HEMI engine whispers sweet nothings in your ear upon start-up. The 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine produces 470 horsepower and 465 lb-ft. of torque. This power is transferred through an all-wheel drive system that allows the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 to out accelerate many sports cars and all other SUVs with a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds which is faster than a Chevrolet Camaro SS. That is super sexy indeed! The SRT8 does have a high MSRP starting at $54,470 but you get some serious hardware for that kind of cash. Some other SUVs in the running were the redesigned 2012 Ford Explorer, Dodge Durango, and Toyota Land Cruiser. But it was the sexy HEMI engine that pushed the Grand Cherokee SRT8 to the top.
