2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Mercedes Gullwing. The word calls to mind the classic Mercedes-Benz 300SL produced from 1955 through 1957, with its iconic skyward-opening doors. It's still one of the most sought after cars in the world, with examples selling for millions of dollars at auction. The 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is an homage to that car, with styling derived from the original, right down the gullwing doors. However, with a 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 563 hp under the long hood, the SLS AMG is as thoroughly modern as it gets. It is also the first car exclusively produced by AMG, rather than being a highly tuned version of an existing Mercedes-Benz model. U.S. pricing isn't announced, but Europeans will be paying around $265,000.
