The Dodge Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program feeds Dodge dealerships a steady stream of used cars, trucks and crossovers in good condition so that they can be sold alongside brand new models. Dodge CPO vehicles are a cut above standard used cars, due to the criteria used to choose which automobiles can participate in the program, the inspection process that weeds out problem cars and the warranty protections that come with each CPO automobile that is sold.

Not just any secondhand car can qualify for CPO selection. To start out with, all candidates must boast a clean title, with no record of a serious accident or past incidence of theft recorded anywhere in their histories. Dodge makes use of the CARFAX service to generate a report that covers the DMV and insurance records of each car. This helps to make sure that vehicles showing irregularities in their reported mileage, fire or flood damage or any kind of frame damage do not make it past this stage of the process.

A clean title is only one of the initial criteria used to determine what automobiles will be included under the Dodge CPO banner. Applicants must be five model years old or less and can have traveled no more than 65,000 miles. In addition, cars and trucks which have been modified through the use of aftermarket accessories are not eligible for inclusion in the Dodge CPO program.

Dodge lists a 125-point inspection as one of the primary tools it uses to make sure that each Dodge CPO vehicle offers used car buyers the best reliability, safety and quality possible on the secondhand market. To start with, each CPO participant that enters into a Dodge service bay sees all of its outstanding maintenance taken care of immediately. What follows is an extensive inspection process that targets all mechanical and aesthetic aspects of the vehicle so as to make sure that there are no systems, features or major components which aren’t looking or operating at their best. Dodge uses only brand new, factory parts to repair or replace any items which are worn out or broken, and a road test is also performed to make sure that the automobile in question runs and drives as good as it looks.

Every Dodge CPO vehicle that leaves the technician’s bay additionally includes a free three-month subscription to Sirius satellite radio.

There are two warranty programs that come standard with every Dodge Certified Pre-Owned car or truck. A three-month / 3,000 mile “maximum care” warranty provides comprehensive coverage of a vehicle’s systems, with the exception of standard wear items such as tires and wiper blades. The warranty starts on the date of sale of the CPO automobile if the vehicle’s pre-existing new vehicle warranty has expired, or on the date of expiration should the new vehicle warranty still be valid.

For Dodge CPO vehicles hailing from model year 2010 and beyond, powertrain warranty coverage lasts for a period of seven-years or 100,000 miles from the date the car or truck was originally sold. CPO automobiles from 2009 or earlier see powertrain warranty coverage of six-years / 80,000 miles from the original date of sale.

Each powertrain warranty also includes 24-hour a day, seven-day a week roadside assistance, absolutely free. This service covers things like towing, fuel delivery, jump-starts and locksmithing, in addition to offering a car rental allowance should alternative transportation be required due to a vehicle breakdown.
