Set to go on sale this summer, pricing for the 2013 Cadillac ATS was announced today with a starting MSRP of $33,990 including destination charges. The new 2013 Cadillac ATS will be the first compact model for GM's luxury brand since the failed Cimarron in the mid-1990s, but this promising new rear-wheel drive luxury sedan should compete quite well against German competitors like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Production of the 2013 Cadillac ATS will take place at GM's Lansing Grand River Assembly in Lansing, Mich., but the new luxury compact will be sold in other key markets including Europe and China.

Like its rivals, the 2013 Cadillac ATS will have a broad engine offering with the base price attached to the 2.5-liter, direct-injected inline-four engine . Final output numbers have yet to be announced for any of the ATS' powertrain options, but this base engine is expected to return the top fuel economy numbers of the line-up with 30 miles per gallon on the highway while still delivering a decent 200 horsepower. Stepping up to the ATS 2.0 Turbo will raise the starting price up to $35,795, but it will include a more powerful engine (270 horsepower). Finally, the top-of-the-line ATS model will get the same direct-injected 3.6-liter V-6 available in the CTS, and it will start at $42,090. Cadillac still hasn't broken down what features will be standard with these prices or which options will be available on specific ATS models, but it did say that the ATS 3.6 will come standard with Cadillac's CUE infotainment system, eight-way power front seats with memory and adaptive start. The 2.0T and 3.6 V-6 models will also have the option of all-wheel drive.

“The ATS enters a vehicle segment this year that’s one of the most competitive in the market, from both a price and performance standpoint,” said Don Butler, vice president of Cadillac Marketing. “ATS will bring a distinctive presence and compelling value while offering quick, nimble, fun-to-drive dynamics that will appeal to the lifestyles of modern luxury buyers and challenge the segment’s status quo.”

To make room for the ATS in its line-up, the starting price of the 2013 Cadillac CTS has been increased significantly to $38,715 which represents a gain of almost $3,000 over the 2012 CTS. This is the biggest price hike for the second-generation CTS since its sophomore model year where the 2009 model jumped almost the same amount  compared to the 2008 CTS. As for the other new addition to the Cadillac line-up, the 2013 Cadillac XTS will have a starting price of $44,995.
