Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: The seats and quality of the leather
Cons: Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires; they're horrible
Advice: Get the manualThis is truly a breakthrough vehicle from GM/Cadillac. The handling with the Luxury/Sport package is incredible, and this is a must as you can only get Stabilitrak and the speed sensitive steering with it. The seats are Lear seats- the same ones BMW makes you pay extra for in their 'sport package'. They truly are wonderfully supportive. The CTS is better than the competition, costs less money, with more room. The dealer experience was wonderful as well, void of the 'BMW' arrogance that asks for full sticker. Get the CTS while you can. When the SRX is launched in the fall, production will be curbed because then there will be two vehicles on the line, not just the CTS.
Advice: Drive before you buy. Tghe car may have defects!Bought a new Cadillac Seville STS last week to replace my '97. Had Good Luck with the '97. Wanted the showroom model, mistakenly drove a similar model on the lot. Bought the show room model. Got it home to find out that it rattled worse than my 13 year old Japanese car and vibrated at speeds 65 mph. Car is waiting for parts. Am on a 2,000 mile vacation trip but my new $40K+ auto is in my garage. Was going to take the new car to Florida next week but don't trust the quality. Car has 400 miles on it. GM quality had better improve if they want to stay in business. They may have this car back next week.
Cons: needs more wood grain inside
Advice: Buy the car...you'll love it!!At the age of 30, I never thought I would want to drive a Cadillac. This is like no other Cadillac ever built however. The performance is incredible, and the features on the inside are what you would see on a car that costs in the $50,000 range! According to the numbers, it has 220 horsepower, but it accelerates better than cars that have 260 hp. It handles just as well as my friend's BMW 538i. The seats are comfotable and very adjustable. the Bose sound stereo sounds great. You can control the radio and navigation system with voice commands. I test drove the G35, A4, 528i, Lincoln LS, & Acura TL. The CTS blows them away.
Pros: Driver Information Center (Programable functions and Steering Wheel Controls)
Cons: Lack of gages.
Advice: Go with the Luxury package. This car is outstanding. The ride and handling cannot be beat for the money. NO complaints regarding glare as in another review or hitting the roof while going over bumps. THIS IS A SPORTS SEDAN. YES, the ride is tighter then traditional American cars, this is a GOOD THING!
Advice: buy itThis is a good car.
Pros: Suspension / Road Manners -On par with German sport sedans
Cons: Minor things like the interior door cubby's are small and the grill is made of plastic.
Advice: GM put a lot of time, energy, and $$'s into the CTS and it shows.Purchased a loaded lux sport with garnet red paint. So far 5,000 trouble free miles. Don't be mislead by the 220HP rating. This car has plenty of power and it very fun to drive (unlike the Catera I traded in). The CTS is by far the best domestic sedan that I've ever driven. I test drove the G35, BMW 330, and AcuraTL (all good cars), but the styling, fun-to-drive factor, and features for the price made the CTS a no brainer decision.
Cons: Needs more analog gauges
Advice: Get the luxury or sport luxury packageLove the way the car handles, feels very solid. I didn`t like the styling the first time I saw it but now love its unique look, the bose radio sounds great.
