2002 Buick LeSabre - Custom
Pros: Steering wheel controls and driver's information center.
Cons: Position of the anchor points of both front seat belts.
Advice: Do not expect superior gas mileage. We average 23 mpg highwayI must say that this is the FIRST vehicle I've ever purchased that did not have to be returned to the dealer to adjust minor and/or major defects. We have a 1992 toyota Camry that when purchased new, had to be returned to the dealer at lease 6 times within the first 2 months to correct a recurring brake problem. The LeSabre now has 3000 miles on it and we have noticed nothing wrong! We will be taking it for an oil change in a couple of days and this is the first visit to any shop. The fit and trim quality is excellant. Much better that you would expect from and American car. We are very pleased with Buick in general. This is the second one in our driveway now.
2002 Buick Rendezvous - FWD
Pros: Radio supression
Cons: Thumping in the rear suspension
Advice: It's all good!Great in snow. Fun to drive - even the teens like to drive it!
2002 Buick Regal - GS
Pros: Horses are there when needed.
Cons: Distance is too great between arm rest and steering wheel.
Advice: Drive hard for a deal with your retailer. Let them know your considering other cars first.Steps up to the plate and delivers power, performance with looks and comfort. It's got the whole package at a pretty nice price too.
2002 Buick Park Avenue - Ultra
Pros: BUCKET SEATS
Cons: WEATHER SEALS ON REAR DOORS
Advice: ADD THE EXTRA OPTIONSTHERE IS NOTHING THAT SETS THE APPEARANCE OF THIS VEHICLE APART FROM PREVIOUS YEARS. THE COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE MAKES UP FOR THIS. DUE TO THE COST OF THIS VEHICLE IT IS WELL WORTH ADDING THE EXTRA OPTIONS. IT WILL BE FIRST ON MY LIST OF NEW CARS TO CHECK OUT.
2002 Buick Rendezvous - CX AWD
Pros: Interior gadgetry and comfort.
Cons: Rear styling
Advice: Don't expect a hotrod. It's got enough pep to get you thereIt's not as powerful as my '98 Jimmy but is equal in handling.
2002 Buick Rendezvous - FWD
Pros: Sun Roof
Cons: Cost of phone service for On-Star
Advice: Try it you will like it. Pay the extra and get some of the bells and whistles. Pass-up the all wheel drive unless you live in a snow belt region. The power traction feature for the front wheel drive is plenty. My wife and I took advantage of GM's early lease return program. Thanks GM!! We returned a Pontiac Montana and leased a new Buick Rendezvous. We love this vehicle!! The dark blue with lower gray accent is in our opinion the best looking color variation. It has a lot of bells & whistles such as sun roof, leather & power seats with memory for 2 drivers, deluxe sound system with 6 CD changer, trailer package, On-star phone, and digital info that is beamed (or reflected) onto the windshield so you keep your eyes on the road. Didn't get the AWD because you really don't need it where we live (Ohio) and it adds 500 pounds which puts more drain on the 185 hp engine. Very comfortable riding and the seats give you nice back support. The kids enjoy the stereo hookups in the back and the SUV comes with 2 sets of headphones with volume control. They can listen to CD's while we listen to the radio at the same time.. or visa versa. The all leather seats are worth the extra money not only from a comfort standpoint but from aesthetics as well. The front hood lifts up very easily with 2 gas loaded struts automatically lifting to the open position. On-star safety features are a nice add-on but the phone service is way to expense compared to a traditional cell phone service. On-Star sends help automatically if you get in a bad accident & the air bags deploy. Likewise, they can open your doors by calling a 1-888 # if you lock your keys in the car. For an extra fee you can have a personal navigation system feature. Not sure we wil keep On-Star after the first 'free' year is used up as it is very expensive.. to bad because it is fun to use. Our 2 teenage boys ride in the middle becasue the back sets have to little leg room. However, you can fold down one of the middle seats to create more room for back passengers. The middle seats also have fold down foot rests like you sometimes see in a first class cabin on an aircraft. Gas milage is somewhat below the sticker values (19/26)but that should improve as the car gets broken in. We also like the fact that the car has a warning sound when backing up if you get to close to an object. Good feature if someone leaves a bike etc. behind the SUV. From a ride standpoint the Rendzvous excels. Much smoother than our Pontiac Montana Van (though I believe the problem there was with the tires more than design issues.) The Buick fits inside our garage with room to spare. Like I said we have had many GMC and other brand vehicles and this is the best yet! Highly recommended!!
2002 Buick Regal - LS
Pros: Excellent handling.
Cons: Engine compartment layout.
Advice: Forget the GS. Who wants to buy premium gas? While this car doesn't get much respect from the Nipponophants in the magazine industry, it is none the less an excellent vehicle. I have driven all of the Japanese competitors and found them wanting. This car handles as well as an Accord, but is so quiet that you don't realize it. It out accelerates the Altima and interior quality is far superior. This car is like driving a rocket. I think I experienced time-dialation. The stereo is excellent. The ride is smooth. The car is a keeper.
