2014 Buick Enclave Summary
Changes for the 2014 Buick Enclave:
New Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Alert technologies are optional for the 2014 Enclave, which also receives dual USB ports for the rear seat occupants as well as new text-to-voice capability for the standard IntelliLink infotainment system.
The 2014 Enclave is sold in a single level of specification that can be upgraded by adding a Leather Package or a Premium Package. Highlights from the standard equipment list include cloth seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, triple-zone automatic climate control, a power rear liftgate, rear parking assist sensors, HID headlights, and a universal garage door opener. An IntelliLink infotainment system is also standard, and includes a 6.5-inch color touchscreen display, Bluetooth hands-free calling and music streaming, Internet radio access, text-to-voice capability, a USB port, a reversing camera, and OnStar telematics with 6 months of free service.
For leather seats, heated front seats, a power front passenger’s seat, nicer 19-inch aluminum wheels, and added safety equipment in the form of Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert systems, buyers must opt for the Leather Package. Take things a step further with the Premium Package, and the Enclave is equipped with Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning systems, as well as a premium sound system, articulating headlights that swivel to help see around dark corners, ventilated front seats, and chrome wheels.
Additional options include a navigation system, a rear-seat entertainment system, a power sunroof, and 20-inch wheels.
Engines and Transmissions:
A 288-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine is standard for the 2014 Enclave, driving the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional, and when properly equipped, this full-size crossover SUV can tow up to 4,500 pounds.
Fuel Economy Ratings:
According to the EPA, the 2014 Enclave gets 19 mpg in combined city and highway driving with front-wheel drive. The optional AWD system drops that figure to 18 mpg.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 2014 Enclave its highest crash-protection rating of 5 stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not rated the 2014 Enclave’s crash-test performance. Last year, the big Buick received the top rating of “Good” in all but the new small overlap frontal-impact test, for which the SUV was not tested in 2013.
Buick continues to improve the Enclave’s list of technology offerings with new text-to-voice functionality for the standard IntelliLink infotainment system, as well as new Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning system options, which are included in the available Premium Package.
Additional safety-related technologies include the Leather Package’s Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert systems, while all Enclaves come with a free 6-month subscription to OnStar telematics and both Automatic Crash Response and Crisis Assist services.
A rear-seat DVD entertainment system is available separately from option packages, and includes a 3-prong 115-volt power outlet just like the one in your house.
