Pros: Insulated soft-top
Cons: ground clearance of front end
Advice: You will scrap the front of this car when parkingI love how this car handles. It starts off the line very quickly. Even when not intentionally driving aggressively, you'll leave most cars a quarter mile behind you or further, it just accelerates that quickly. It is truely glued to the road, I haven't chirped the tires yet. It's a fairly comfortable ride, though over longer distances it can get a little uncomfortable. There isn't enough leg room for the 6 footers out there. However, I drive it on 250 mile trips quite frequently and its doable, so for a weekend get away car, its great. Plus, if you hit those mountain roads, with the top down, the view plus the handling, just can't be beat.
Pros: The sports botton,The six speed shifter,The room in the carpit,
Advice: Try it and you may just like it, Take the test driveI am one of the lucky ones.My roadster is an 03 with 12,miles when my eyes feasted upon this dream car it had 10, miles.I have a brand new bimmer that has yet to have an oil change. The car is more than a dream machine it is pure love at frist site. The pick up and go that comes once you hit the sports botton is just out of this world.Reason being is that I was at a stop light and forgot I had hit the sports botton,my goodness it felt as if it jumped to the next stop light.I am thinking this car and I will grow old togeather. I also have the hardtop which make it even more sexy and as I say it is locked and loaded.
Pros: Automatic rain sensors, and automatic dimming mirrors and headlights. 26 mpg all the time, every time.
Cons: The road debris causing damage
Advice: Buy used - too much depreciation when you outgrow the 'second childhood'.I've owned the car two years and I am always taking it to the shop for one thing or another. The tires need to be replaced every 20,000 miles - sport tires have no guarantee. The rear panel kept coming away from the body of the car and it took two trips to the dealer to get it fixed. The low body means it will take all the road abuse other cars throw at you. I've replaced two headlights, the windshield, and had to repair the hood from road debris and falling items from trucks. There is something wrong with the brakes that the dealer can't find a cure for - and this problem keeps the car from going forward unless I turn the key off, press on the brakes really hard, and restart the car. Sometimes, I have to do it more than once. It's really hard to see the curbs, too, and if you run up on one, be prepared to buy a new rim. I've had to buy one of those, too. Now the fuel gauge is acting up... unreliable. I enjoy the car, but it has needed a lot more attention than I am used to having to give to a car. I wish I had never gotten rid of my Honda Accord EX V-6. In fact, I'm going to sell this BMW Z-4 and get another Honda Accord (Hybrid). I never had a problem with the Honda.
Pros: The drop top driving, the interior quality and handling of this vehicle is superb.
Cons: Have to be careful with parking this vehicle. The nose is longer than you think and the front air dam is low to the ground and very easy to damage.
Advice: You need to test drive this vehicle for an hour or more to fully appreciate the car. This car is an awesome drive. Fun and spirited. Not the fasted car, I have driven but certainly ranks as the best for handling and comfortable sportiness. There has been no tendency to manufacture with cheap materials. The interior is well made and well engineered. the vehicle quite simply makes a Quality Statement. I always thought BMW was over rated but have corrected that perception. You get what you pay for. I traded a 2004 Nissan 350Z Roadster on this car. The 350Z is a quicker but does not handle as well and is noticeably of lower build quality, although it is also significantly cheaper to buy, so to be fair, the 350Z is not easily comparable and is a nice ride for the buck also.
Cons: Can't drive it in the winter
Advice: sex on wheelsKiller looks, great handling. Tough to put away in the winter.
Pros: Heated mirrows and seats and an electric drop top
Cons: Low nose, rain leaks in the doors and trunk when opening.
Advice: Make sure you can fit in the cockpit comfortably, bellies and bad backs are not for this carMy wife bought this for me as we were looking for second drop top in the family. I fell in love at first sight on the styling. Clean, sexy and fast. My first drive taught me that this is a machine to be respected, cornering, excelleration and over all feel of this machine was more than I have ever experienced in the Boxer or the TT. An excellent machine for those who want reserve power and stylish looks.
Pros: Automatic/electric top and it's self-contained boot!!
Cons: Very low front end with NO curb protection or sensors!!
Advice: Get the Sports package it's a blast!!I have owned a Chevelle SS, Firebird, Mustang fastback, Eldorado,RX-7, Miata, and a Z3, but was looking for a new different 'sports car'. While I really liked all my other cars I wasn't totally satisfied with their overall package: looks, performance, and thrill. I had test driven just about everything from the Mercedes to the Vette including the new T-Bird; but not the Z4 (wasn't out yet). My BMW dealer convinced me to wait a couple of weeks until they received their 2 demos and test drive the Z4 before I made a decision. I took my test drive the 3rd day after the demos arrived!! I was awed by the car!! Since I just couldn't wait 4-6 weeks for more models to arrive I bought the demo on the spot: with Sports package, woodgrain console, heated leather seats etc!!! I love this car!! I put chrome wheels on a couple of months later and it really looks 'HOT'!! I've owned and or driven alot of cars in my lifetime and for the money this car is a true winner hands down!! My only regret is that I didn't own this car when I lived in Europe!!
