    An expensive mistake

    Pros: Interior

    Cons: reliability

It would take a month of Sundays to list what did go wrong with this car. When it works it's great..

    Great Vehicle

    Pros: Miles per Gallon

Cons: It sports the same steering wheel and controls as my old 1999 528i. In seven years they can't upgrade or improve?

The X3 is comfortable, roomy in the front, and a great driver. I have read reports that the ride is harsh, but I don't feel it is bad at all. Steering is tight and responsive and the ride is what is expected from a small SUV. It is more a utility vehicle than luxury, but fit and finish is nice. Excellent gas mileage for it's class. I get as much as 27 on the highway, but average between 24 - 26. All around averaging 19-21. Can't beat that for the power it has from the 3.0l.

    Best All-Around Sporty Family Vehicle

Pros: the combo of comfort, practicality and sportiness

Cons: in more remote areas had problems finding the premium+ fuel I preferred

I've owned some vehicles that I really appreciated and enjoyed, but my X3 2.5i beat all the others by a mile! I did a mixture of mostly rural-and-suburban driving, with an occasional ('bout twice-or-thrice a month) foray into urban driving, and *averaged* about 22-23 mpg. When I went on trips I could count on 25-26 mpg! I took a long trip out west to the Rockies in the summer of '06 and found that my X3 *loved* high-altitudes combined with temps around 90F. -- average mpg: 28, *and* had passing power on the up-grades!

    EXCELLENT VEHICLE

Pros: MOTOR SOUNDS LIKE A SPORTS CAR

Cons: A LITTLE LOUDER IN CABIN AREA THAN A LUXURY VEHICLE

THIS IS MY FIRST BMW AND IT HAS REALLY MADE A LASTING IMPRESSION UPON ME. THE X3 GAVE ME EVERYTHING THAT I WAS LOOKING FOR; POWER, ROOMY CABIN, SUV, GREAT GAS MILEAGE. IF YOU LIKE THE SMALLER SIZE VERSION OF AN SUV BUT STILL WANT ALL THE POWER THAT YOU COULD ASK FOR, TRY AN X3. IT'S MORE ON THE SPORTY SIDE WHEREAS THE X5 IS MORE LUXURY. AFTER DRIVING BOTH, THE X3 RIDES/DRIVES MORE LIKE A SPORTS CAR. LOVE MY BMW!
