    2004 BMW X5 - 4.4i (A6)

    Pros: I-drive and the 4.4

    Cons: wheels

Advice: once you own a BMW you will be spoiled!

This is my 2nd X5 and my 7th BMW. The first was a 3.0 this one is the 4.4 and it kicks on all ends. If the 4.8 wasn't so much I'd have gottin it. Would never drive the Jap's SAV/SUV or Americans after owning the German SAV. Buy BMW or Porsche!

    2005 BMW X5 - 3.0i (M6)

Pros: quality leather, seats very comfortable

    Cons: reliability

Advice: stay away from 2001 unless you want to be on first name basis with service dept

I purchased my 2001 X5 in 2003. It looks great, feels great and drives great. BUT, I've had nothing but problems with it. Not engine or transmission problems, jut minor issues, which I find most annoying...interior door handles peeling (BMW made me pay nearly $300 to replay them. looked like factory defect to me), interior fan went out, rear taillight assembly went out (BMW made me pay for them at $250 each), passenger side door panel fell off, passenger side I-beam cover came loose, told I have to order a new one, hmmm...should I go on? You get the idea. One thing I must say is that my service agent at bellevue BMW in Washington is awesome. I would have pushed this Lemon into a ditch if it weren't for him. Yes, I'm in the process of looking for something else. Time to offload this thing.

    2005 BMW X5 - 4.4i (A6)

    Pros: Interior

Cons: Lack of space (compared to SUV's)

Advice: Check the storage space, and unless you find the space indadequate, buy the X5.

Amazing ride. Acceleration is outstanding from the 4.4 V8. Responds immediately with a nice kick of power. Steering is true BMW- meaning precise, and no play in the wheel. I heard negative comments about harshness of 'sport package' suspension, but both my wife and I both love the firm handling and lack of bouncing motion. Interior is the best- seats are wonderful and finishes are top notch. Sport package thick steering wheel is a pleasure to hold. Panoramic moonroof is great. Brakes, again, are amazing. Navigation system not as good as Lexus or other Japanese manufacturers, but definitely acceptable and indispensible.

    2003 BMW X5 - 3.0i (M5)

    Pros: great handling

    Cons: not enough cargo space

Advice: make sure you can live with the limited cargo space

I have had this car for 1.5 years and love the performance. Very tight with reasonable acceleration. Have taken this up to Tahoe several times and it performs flawlessly in the snow and on steep grades. Feels just as good on the town as it does in the mountains (as long as it doesn't have to go off road).

    2005 BMW X3 - 3.0i

Pros: The agility of the car, powerful with quick steering and responsive handling

Cons: Could use the 500 hp M5 V10!

    Advice: Drive one!

The engine is very strong and acceleration is exhilarating. The handling is snug and taut, the steering quick and responsive, though not as much so through the 4WD system as the 325i (what else is?). The styling, though quirky and not for everyone, is aggressive, confident, tough, beautifully detailed and handsome. The panorama roof never fails to draw “Ooohs!” The automatic control features, lights, speed sensitive sound volume control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, provides a distraction free driving experience. All controls are wonderful, especially the transmission which has a great passing gear. For me, the car is a perfect balance of size, styling, elegance, prestige, and performance in a rugged AWD package with strong engine, great handling, quick steering, intuitive controls and wonderful features like the panorama roof. It holds the right amount of stuff, 5 people with room for luggage plus the roof rack if needed. Gas mileage has been in the 17-18 mpg range. I like the functional quality of the interior, and already have a slightly plusher 325i for going to the opera with. In the X3, with it's tough vinyl fabric, I get the impression of sporty ruggedness and durability which I think is appropriate for an all-weather 4WD car. After six months and 9000 miles I still love this car, have had no need to visit the dealer and all parts including wear items are free of charge until 2009. The package is exactly what I wanted, not as big & high up as an X5 with the same interior space. You could not ask for more in a single vehicle, and my hats off to BMW.

    2005 BMW X5 - 4.4i (A6)

Pros: Safety, acceleration, handling and luxury.

Cons: Took a big bite from my pocket after almost all options were added unto it = $65K.

Advice: Don't listen to those people who marks down X5 in their ratings. Just be sure though that you have enough to finance it.

I have owned a 2005 4.4 liters X5 with sports & performance option and 20' wheels for about a month now. Its first week I drove interstate to Maryland from NJ and vice versa. Experienced the efficiency of its speed and dexterity in handling in I-95 in both daylight and night time. Never regreted buying it. Only problem, my wife loves to drive it as much as I am...

    2004 BMW X5 - 3.0i (M6)

    Pros: everything

Cons: no in dash cd changer

    Advice: buy it...you'll love it

I test drove just about every Mid sized SUV on the market. BMW has not only the best looking but I think the best performing SUV on the road. Just picked it up a couple of days ago and I love how it drives and looks.
