Pros: Steering response and control.
Cons: Sound system is annoying.
Advice: Measure distance between driver and front airbag.Great steering control, smooth but moderate acceleration, blind spots at rear posts. Not a car for drivers under 5'6', pedal distance requires driver to be too close to airbag. Poor radio reception acknowledged by manufacturer but not adjustable. Speedometer in error 5%, manufacturer says 10% error is acceptable and not adjustable.
Pros: Automatic Rain Wipers
Advice: Drive it on the open roadBest car I have every driven, I have owned corvettes and this is a corvettes with luxury
Pros: Cup holders and storage compartments (didnt make sense at all!)
Cons: Lots of blind spots...be careful when driving.
Advice: 530 is sufficient for most drivers (540 is too much). Get the Xenon headlights!Great handling and stopping. Acceleration, while not like the M series is more than adequate to feel in control. Car does feel like it grips well and controls nicely (esp. with sports package). Found the general ergonomics of the controls pretty weak, but manageable (radio, cup holder, etc...).
Pros: Combination of seating and driving position
Cons: CUP HOLDERS SUCK
Advice: Near perfect blend of power & performance. Incredible vehicle.Incredible vehicle. Other than the pathetic cup holders, this is the best handling, most comfortable sports sedan I've ever owned. (& I've owned an LS400, Acura 3.5 RL, other BMW's, Audi x2 and many US vehicles). Much more than adequate acceleration. Remarkable gas mileage (27-29 on long flat highway driving). Average over 1st 4500 miles is 22.8 mixed (computer derived since new) Long road trips with the comfort seats are a breeze.
Pros: fit and finish
Cons: cup holders & climate control
Advice: look at a Lincoln LS first....I traded in a 2000 lincoln LS with a sport package to this car it was a bit of a shock. I thought for 12k more the BMW would really be a step above. But if I had to do it again I would have gotten a new LS. It has much more standard equipment. The cup holders in the BMW are useless. The dealer has a add on for $75. they aren't much better. The climate control in not auto as it says. Its really strange to work. I had to go to the dealer to find out is says automatic but it's really not.The Lincoln w/sports package handels better than the standard BMW. In the LS the CD is in the dash not in the trunk. To get a BMW with ALL the same equipment as are standard on LS it would cost you 18K more! I will say the transmission in the BMW is great! So are the lights.
