Equipped with a taller ride height than a 3 Series Sedan and a faster roofline than a 3 Series Sports Wagon, the new 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo appears to be the answer to a question that nobody asked.
This high-riding, 5-door hatchback is offered in 328i Gran Turismo and 335i Gran Turismo model series with a standard xDrive all-wheel-drive system. Metallic paint, leather seats, upgraded interior trim, and larger aluminum wheels are optional for the 3 Series Gran Turismo. A Cold Weather Package equips the car with heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel, and the 3 Series GT is offered with a premium audio system, active cruise control, numerous performance upgrades, and a Parking Assistant that steers the car into a parking space while the driver operates the pedals and the transmission.
Additionally, this BMW can be optioned with the equipment listed below in the Technology Highlights section.
Engines and Transmissions:
A 240-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine is standard for the 328i Gran Turismo, while the 335i Gran Turismo is equipped with a 300-horsepower, 3.0-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder engine. Both engines are bolted to an 8-speed Sports Automatic transmission with paddle shifters, and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system is standard. An automatic stop/start system shuts each engine off whenever the car is idling in order to help conserve fuel.
