Edmunds.com 2010 Bentley Mulsanne Overview
Resurrecting a storied name that pays homage to the famed straightaway at Le Mans where Bentley scored six legendary racing victories, the 2010 Mulsanne flagship sedan arrives in late 2010 positioned above the outgoing Arnage. Bentley believes this posh and extravagant sedan will assume its place as the driver's choice "at the pinnacle of the ultra-luxury segment." The 2010 Bentley Mulsanne rides on an all-new chassis with air suspension and is powered by a redesigned version of the company's existing twin-turbocharged 6.75-liter V8. Although it weighs close to 3 tons, the Mulsanne won't lack for gusto, with 505 horsepower and a massive 752 pound-feet of torque. It should be good for a 0-60-mph time of just a tad more than 5 seconds and a top speed reported to exceed 180 mph. Despite this formidable combination, the Mulsanne is expected to deliver better fuel economy than the outgoing Arnage, which returned just 10 mpg in city driving and 17 mpg on the highway. Of course, this motorcar's true essence and sheer presence lie in its crisply detailed styling and other aesthetic customization such as a choice from among 114 paint colors, 21 carpet colors, nine wood veneers and 24 interior leather hides. If that isn't enough for prospective buyers, other amenities like the 2,200-watt audio system with 20 custom-built speakers are also offered to make the miles roll by with especially rarefied ease. Once introduced, we have little doubt that the 2010 Bentley Mulsanne will live up to its grand expectations. Be sure to check back later for a full review.
