Edmunds.com 2012 Bentley Continental GT Overview

Introduction:

It seems as though Bentley has been paying attention to what people have been saying about its most popular model. Rumor has it that the next-generation 2012 Bentley Continental GT will address many of the deficiencies that the current model suffers from. The aging styling appears to be due for a minor face-lift, but the basic shape will remain the same. Underneath the bodywork, a regimen of weight loss will likely shave off some unwanted weight -- by transplanting the Audi A8's aluminum front-end components. This will also widen the front track, allowing for driveline components to move forward and lengthening the interior space, creating more legroom in the current model's cramped rear quarters. Another one of our current model complaints, the outdated infotainment interface, looks to be remedied by upgraded electronics -- once again, courtesy of the Audi parts bin. Don't look for too much in the way of added power from the already burly W12 engine, though, perhaps a meager bump in output, if at all. We expect higher-spec models like the Speed and Supersport to follow within a few years of the release of the 2012 Bentley Continental GT, just as those versions did with the current generation. Check back later as more hard information will likely become available further into 2010 and 2011.
