With the current lineup doing so well, it can be easy to forget that Jeep is just a few months away from launch another all-new vehicle, the 2015 Jeep Renegade. Which is no doubt why Jeep is using November's SEMA Show—the world's largest automotive aftermarket extravaganza—to remind folks about its upcoming, subcompact-sized SUV. In fact, the brand will have at least two 2015 Jeep Renegade concepts as part of Mopar's massive SEMA exhibit in Las Vegas, and it recently released teaser sketches of both.

Neither show much in the way of detail, but the concept names, "Rip Tied" and "Frostbite," provide a hint about the direction each vehicle takes, with the former based on the 2015 Jeep Renegade in its premium Limited trim and the latter showcasing the offroad-friendly 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk model.

And make no mistake, despite the fact that the 2015 Jeep Renegade is just three inches longer than a Nissan Versa hatchback, it will provide "Trail Rated" offroad performance in that Trailhawk configuration. It's just along with a "Jeep Active Drive Low" 4X4 system and the brand's Selec-Terrain multimode drive selector, the 2015 Jeep Renegade also provides a stylish, urban-friendly package that offers:

  • Two powertrains that provide more than 30 mpg, highlighted by both nine-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions as well as a 2.4-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine and a similarly cylindered 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo
  • The Chrysler Group's award-winning Uconnect infotainment technology with on-demand mobile wi-fi capability
  • Next-gen safety features like forward collision warning with driver assistance, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection

Also, in a nod to the design of the Jeep Wrangler, the 2015 Jeep Renegade will offer a removable roof-panel system known as "My Sky" to provide an open-air driving experience.

Built in Italy and already on sale in Europe, the 2015 Jeep Renegade is due in U.S. dealerships at the beginning of next year.
