Must-See Luxury Cars and Sedans at the 2016 New York Auto Show

Style and luxury go hand in hand in the Big Apple, so it's only natural that they would feature prominently at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. All of the usual suspects, along with a couple of new contenders, brought their newest luxury offerings to NYIAS before they arrive in a dealership near you. Follow along as we show you the luxury cars and sedans of note from New York.

2017 BMW M760i xDrive

The 2017 BMW M760i xDrive isn't exactly a pure M car, but the new model is now the only way to get a 12-cylinder under the hood of this full-size luxury cruiser. With 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque on tap from a 6.6-liter turbocharged engine, straight-line speed isn't an issue—and BMW has also grafted a few handling upgrades onto the chassis to go with it. Standard all-wheel drive helps to pin this premium bruiser to the tarmac, and inside the sedan features the full suite of BMW's top tier equipment and advanced technology features.

The 2017 BMW M760i xDrive is a new model that sits at the apex of the 7 Series food chain. Early 2017 Pricing has not yet been discussed for the BMW.

2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive

Want a big BMW but need the exclusivity associated with an aftermarket tuner? The 2017 BMW ALPINA B7 xDrive is right up your alley. The large sedan wears an aerodynamic body kit that lets everyone around you know that this is no ordinary 7 Series. Based around the 4.4-liter turbocharged engine from the 750i, the Alpina B7 xDrive cranks up the boost to churn out 600 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, making it almost as quick as the (also all-wheel drive) M760i xDrive in the sprint to 60-mph.

The 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive offers aftermarket flair and performance for BMW's full-size sedan. Look for the Alpina next year Still waiting for a price on the Alpina B7.

2017 Mercedes-AMG E43

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E43 brings factory-backed performance to the German brand's all-new four-door sedan. The Mercedes-AMG E43 is built around a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V-6 engine that sends 396 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission—the first of its kind for Mercedes-Benz. The E43 also offers some of the most dramatic styling in the E-Class family.

The 2016 Mercedes-AMG E43 is all-new. Early 2017 No word yet on E43 pricing.

2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 cabriolet lets you feel the wind in you hair at well over 155-mph. Thanks to a twin-turbo V-8 engine —unique in its class—the Mercedes-AMG C63 cabriolet lets you choose between 469 horsepower and 503 horsepower editions of its 4.0-liter mill (with the mightier of the two called the C63 S). Look for similarly performance-tuned suspensions and transmission details with the AMG, which hits 60-mph in just four seconds.

2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class gains a few fresh touches designed to keep it current with buyers seeking entry-level luxury. The front and the rear of the CLA-Class have been tweaked—most noticeably on the AMG-tuned CLA45 performance model—while LED headlights have become available as well. An eight-inch LCD display is now standard, along with additional active safety equipment. Power is still derived from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine which offers 208 horsepower on base models and 375 horsepower for the AMG.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class sees updated styling inside and out, along with a few new features. Fall of 2016 Pricing is not yet available for the Mercedes-Benz.

Genesis New York Concept

The first two-door coupe from Hyundai's Genesis premium nameplate has generated significant buzz. Inside the swoopy New York Concept there's a huge, nearly two-foot long curved LCD touchscreen integrated into the dashboard, while mechanically the car features an eight-speed automatic transmission and a hybrid setup that pushes out 242 horsepower from a 2.0-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine. Although it will likely be toned down for showrooms, the Genesis New York Concept is a strong indication of where Hyundai is heading in the luxury space.

The Genesis New York Concept is all-new. It's a concept, so it won't be offered for sale. There's no price tag on this Genesis coupe.

2017 Audi R8 Spyder

The 2017 Audi R8 Spyder removes the roof of the popular R8 coupe and replaces it with a fabric top that can open and close in 20 seconds (at speeds of up to 31-mph). The sharply-styled silhouette of the R8 Spyder is backed up by a 5.2-liter V-10 engine that grinds out 540 horsepower, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission is the only available gearbox. 0-60 arrives in a startling 3.6 seconds with the hammer—and the roof—down in the Audi (which of course features standard quattro all-wheel drive).

The 2017 Audi R8 Spyder is an all-new convertible edition of the R8 coupe. Audi has yet to reveal when the R8 Spyder will go on sale. Still waiting on R8 Spyder pricing from Audi.

2017 Lexus LC500h

The 2017 Lexus LC500h installs a hybrid drivetrain in one of the most beautiful coupes to emerge from the Japanese luxury brand in years. Matching a 3.5-liter V-6 with a pair of electric motors, plus the unusual combination of a four-speed automatic transmission with a continuously-variable gearbox, the LC500h offers an all-new hybrid design from Lexus. The coupe can drive at speeds of up to 87-mph on electricity alone, with 354 horses accessible in total from the hybrid system itself.

The 2017 Lexus LC500h adds hybrid power to the luxury coupe's portfolio. Look for the LC500h early next year. Pricing is not available for the Lexus.

2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR

The 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE SVR is the fastest Jaguar ever released into the wild. With 575 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque available from its supercharged 5.0-liter V-8, the F-Type SVR imports features like the torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system and carbon ceramic brakes that were previously only available on the limited edition Jaguar Project 7. An eight-speed automatic transmission is offered with the SVR, which also provides a fierce-looking set of wings, splitters, and other assorted aerodynamic enhancements.

The 2017 Jaguar F-Type SVR is faster than any previous Jaguar sports car. There's no on-sale date yet for the F-Type SVR. $125,950 gets you the coupe edition of the Jaguar F-Type SVR.

2017 Kia Cadenza

The 2017 Kia Cadenza presents a fresh face to buyers seeking a comfortable daily drive just nipping at the heels of the luxury segment. The full-size Kia Cadenza has been restyled to offer a more pointed look, while its platform has been stiffened using more high strength steel. Under the hood there's a 3.3-liter V-6, and while Kia is being coy about the power details, count on nearly 300 horsepower from the four-door and improved fuel efficiency to go with it.

The 2017 Kia Cadenza has been refreshed to offer a new look and a more efficient engine. Kia has yet to discuss the Cadenza's release date. There's no pricing information available for the Kia sedan.
