2008 L.A. Auto Show Preview: Mini E Concept
Leave it to a car with a little name to make a big impact at the 2008 L.A. auto show. That's the idea behind the Mini E, a fully-electric edition of the entertaining Mini Cooper. The Mini E boasts a 150-mile range and 204 horsepower. An electric motor draws its juice from a lithium-ion battery and uses a single-stage helical gearbox as a conduit for delivering grunt to the front wheels. Mini suggests that a full recharge can be accomplished in less than three hours. Upon introduction, 500 Mini E models will be leased to the public, but forget about toting the kids around – the rear seat has been axed to make room for the battery.
