Power, precision, and performance. Those three words are the core of the Mercedes-Benz E63, and all three have been taken up a notch for 2014. No longer simply a luxury muscle car, the 2014 E63 AMG is now more dynamic thanks to the addition of 4MATIC all-wheel-drive. It hasn’t lost its edge though, and in fact now offers a new S-Model variant that ups the crazy over the “standard” E63 AMG.

What’s New for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG:

  • There’s more aggression and style on the outside
  • There’s more anger under the hood.
  • All-wheel-drive comes to an AMG vehicle for the first time.

New 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG: Styling and Design

Just as the standard E-Class vehicles have received a styling update, so too has the mighty E63 AMG. In fact, it’s seen its sheetmetal go a step further thanks to the ultra-powerful looking front fascia, carbon fiber roof, and massive exhaust outlets out back.

One look, and you know you’re staring at something awfully mighty.

New 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG: What’s Under the Hood

Mercedes-Benz have taken its twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 to new heights. In the “base” E63 AMG 4MATIC, you’ll be rewarded with 550 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. All of that torque is available from 1,750 rpm up through 5,250 rpm. This power pushes the car from 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds.

There’s more in store for those who desire it, however, because there’s a new E63 S-Model variant that ups the power. At this level, the engine produces 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The S-Model is offered as a sedan or a wagon, and it’s also equipped with the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

Both engines are equipped with the seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT automatic transmission.

New 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG: Features and Technology

AMG engineers take their jobs very seriously, and the latest E63 AMG is the bountiful fruit of their labor. The hand-built engines are practically works of art, while the addition of the all-wheel-drive system should be of no concern to enthusiasts. AMG have tuned it so that 67 percent of the engine torque is sent out to the rear axle. Additionally, a torque vectoring system applies brakes to certain wheels to aid in cornering and helping with the minimization of understeer.

New 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG: What Autobytel Thinks

The SLS AMG may be the king of the performance hill for Mercedes-Benz, but the E63 AMG is the everyday supercar. Now, it’s even better than before with the upgraded power, and we’re pleased that the wagon body style remains in existence (in fact, you can only get the wagon if you opt for the S-Model). Loongroof fans rejoice.
