The four-rings brand put the finishing touches on its fourth straight annual sales record in December, which became the first month in which Audi has topped 15,000 sales in this country. The bottom line: 17,013 December deliveries that represented a 14.6 percent increase versus the same month in 2012. And with that total added to the ledger, Audi’s full-year sales performance showed a 13.5 percent gain on the strength of 158,061 deliveries.
“After 36 consecutive record sales months, 2013 was another year to thank America for embracing Audi,” said Mark Del Rosso, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Audi of America. “These record results show the payoff from our longstanding strategy to build the Audi brand through exciting products, committed dealer partners and a sustainable business model.”
Also helping matters is the success of Audi’s TDI clean-diesel technology. In fact, the proportion of customers choosing diesel powertrains was above 10 percent in December for all five of Audi’s current TDI models, peaking at 28.7 percent for the 2014 Audi Q7 TDI.
The brand’s bestsellers last month included:
- Audi Q5—4,794 sales, up 32.2 percent
- Audi A4—3,543 sales, up 5.2 percent
- Audi A6—2,686 sales, up 43.3 percent
- Audi Q7—2,279 sales, up 52.6 percent
