Subaru Pays A Visit To The 1998 Impreza STI 22B

Alright ladies and gentlemen, it's time for another edition of Autobytel's automotive history series.

To begin, 1998 was a pivotal year for Subaru. The brand was celebrating its 40th anniversary and had just clinched its third consecutive manufacturers' title in the FIA World Rally Championship. To commemorate these two momentous occasions, Subaru built a special edition Impreza STI called the 22B. Looking identical to the Impreza WRC vehicle, the 22B featured an enlarged 2.2L turbocharged four-cylinder.

Subaru's National Manager of Product Communications, Dominick Infante, explains the history of this very special Impreza.
