This spring’s X-Games, at Irwindale Speedway in California, wasn’t too far from Autobytel’s headquarters. That’s a good thing, because the X-Games is a hotbed of activity when it comes to action sports and motorsports, since they’re always on the lookout for the newest and most exciting sports. Autobytel got a sneak peek at the Games by checking out Travis Pastrana’s Dodge Dart Global RallyCross car, and, even better, Autobytel got a chance to the legend himself. Travis says that for the five years or so the X-Games have featured rallycross, the sport has earned a lot more exposure, and this year, the X-Games featured two different automotive events. Gymkhana joined rallycross at the Games, which Travis says helps bring recognition to both sports. People are starting to follow the events and become more familiar with the drivers. As Travis says, the X-Games help guide and build sports from the ground up. GRC cars put down about 600 horsepower to four wheels and can go 0-60 in about two seconds. Even though Travis is an X-Games veteran because he used to race motocross, supercross and freestyle events on bikes, switching gears to Global RallyCross was an exciting new challenge for the motorsports pro.
