Although gearheads are more likely to encounter the 2014 Audi R8 Spyder in games like Gran Turismo or Need for Speed, it turns out you also can catch the convertible during day-time game shows like “The Price Is Right.” Or perhaps that should be put into the past tense, since contestant Sheree L. Heil, from Tacoma, Wash., just won the model featured on that iconic celebration of capitalism. And in the process, she also set a new “Price Is Right” record with the most valuable prize ever given away during its daytime edition, valued at $157,300.
Now, the folks at CBS Entertainment “only” offered up the V8-powered version—not the V10—which means Heil has to make do with a mere 430 hp and 317 lb.-ft. of torque. On the other hand, with that power managed by Audi’s seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission, and put to ground through all four tires via quattro technology, she’ll still be Heil on wheels—backed by the ability to run from 0-60 in just 4.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 186 mph.
Said the Spyder’s new owner: “Oh my god. Oh my goodness! Ohhhh! Ohhhhh! What a car!”
For the rest of us, the 2014 Audi R8 Spyder is on sale now with an MSRP that opens at $128,400.
