2014 Audi A8L TDI Test Drive and Video Review

The Audi A8 is a big sedan as it is, but Audi also offers the car in a more impressive long wheelbase version. For the 2014 model year, Audi offers the A8L with a TDI drivetrain that produces 240 horsepower. This turbodiesel 3-liter V6 achieves fuel economy ratings of 24 miles per gallon city and 36 miles per gallon highway. And since it’s new for 2014, Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, Aaron Gold, checked out this new addition to Audi’s diesel fleet. Though the A8L TDI might not be as powerful as some of the other luxury sedans on the market, its fuel efficiency is definitely competitive, compared to both the gasoline version of the A8L as well as the competition. Audi’s direct competitors, BMW and Mercedes, do not offer their executive sedans with diesel engines, so diesel enthusiasts might be especially inclined to check out the A8L TDI. And even though the TDI’s horsepower stats might be on the modest side, the engine is still capable enough for the car’s size. The backseat of the 2014 Audi A8L is especially generous, providing plenty of leg room and head room, as well as a bunch of comfort features. Backseat passengers even have their own climate control, sunroof and sun shades.
