2014 Audi A5 Summary

The 2014 model year bringsminor changes to the Audi A5 lineup. The turbocharged 4-cylinder engine enjoys a horsepower boost to 220 ponies, and Bluetooth connectivity and an iPod connection are now standard equipment. The Premium Plus models now include an Audi Advanced Key system, while Audi Side Assist blind spot monitoring is optional. Audi Drive Select technology is added to the Sport Package, and S-Line exterior trim is standard for A5 Prestige models.

Model Lineup:

The 2014 Audi A5 Coupe comes in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels. Standard equipment for the base Premium model includes 18-inch aluminum wheels, fog lamps, and heated exterior mirrors. Inside, you’ll find leather upholstery, aluminum trim, a panoramic sunroof, a 3-zone automatic climate control system, and a 10-speaker audio system with satellite radio, an iPod connection, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The A5 Cabriolet is similarly outfitted, but loses the panoramic sunroof in favor of a folding cloth roof and a pop-up roll bar system for enhanced safety. Options for the A5 Premium models include heated front seats and a Lighting Package with Xenon Plus headlights, LED running lights, and LED taillights.

These items are included with Premium Plus models, along with Audi Advanced Key technology. Options for this model include an Audi MMI Navigation Plus Package with a reversing camera; a Sport Package with a stiffer suspension, sport seats and Audi Drive Select; and two exterior trim packages called the Black Optic Package and the S-Line Competition Package. You may further choose to furnish the Premium Plus model with 19-inch wheels, Audi Side Assist, and a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.

The top-of-the-line A5 Prestige adds all of the above items plus S-Line exterior trim and adaptive Xenon Plus headlights. Options for this trim level include an S-Line Interior Package with enhanced cabin materials and a Driver Assist package that includes Audi Drive Select, Dynamic Steering, and Audi Adaptive Cruise Control.

Engines and Transmissions:

A turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 220 horsepower is standard equipment, boasting an impressively broad torque curve. The A5 Coupe includes a standard Quattro all-wheel-drive system matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The A5 Cabriolet comes standard with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission (CVT), with Quattro and an 8-speed automatic transmission offered as options.

Fuel Economy Ratings:

According to the EPA, the A5 Cabriolet equipped with FWD and a CVT should get 27 mpg in combined driving, while A5 Coupe models with Quattro and a 6-speed manual should deliver 26 mpg. With Quattro and the 8-speed automatic, the fuel economy rating is 24 mpg in combined driving.

Safety Ratings:
