Audi Record Streak Reaches 39 Consecutive Months
Even though the 2015 Audi A3 Sedan is still a few days away from its "official" debut, it's already making its impact felt at dealerships. Just last month, in fact, when the 2015 Audi A3 was still headed to U.S. markets, the four-rings brand reported a massive sales increase of 150 percent for its compact nameplate. True, that was on just 300 deliveries, but with some help from the rest of the lineup, Audi sold 14,246 vehicles in this country in March, achieving both a 7.5 percent gain in volume and setting its 39th straight monthly sales record.
Among the standouts last month was the 2014 Audi Q5, which remained in a back-and-forth battle with the Audi A4 for overall sales leadership for the brand. The premium compact crossover came out on top last month with 3,357 deliveries and an 8.3 percent spike in deliveries; the A4 finished with 3,334 March sales, but with volume slipping by 2.3 percent. Then, showing the strength of the company's crossover lineup, the three-row 2014 Audi Q7 contributed 1,592 deliveries to the cause, while showcasing the highest growth rate for the brand in March: 45.8 percent.
Further March sales highlights at Audi included a 26.7 percent increase in volume for the 2014 Audi A6, thanks to 2,212 deliveries, and a 7.2 percent bounce for the 2014 Audi A7, with 854 sales. The current Audi R8 also looks to be going out in a rush, enjoying an 8.8 percent growth rate, with 74 deliveries, with the revised 2015 model now on the horizon. The automaker also counted 1,315 sales from its diesel department, representing a sales mix of 15.5 percent.
The party line from Mark Del Rosso, chief operating officer of Audi of America: “What drove the Audi momentum story to its 39th consecutive record month was consistently strong demand across our product line up—particularly for our SUV models and our A6 premium sedan. Add in the tech-forward A3 premium compact sedans after their official sales launch later this week and the outlook for the rest of 2014 is extremely positive.”
Note: Just to be clear, the 2015 Audi A3 Sedan will go on sale April 3 with an MSRP of $29,900.
